Can you go into labour without having the baby being engaged?

Can you go into labour without having the baby being engaged? This is my third bub, but for my 2 previous bubs, I have been induced. I had a visit to the hospital yesterday and this bub isn`t engaged, but I was just wondering anyway- is it possible for me to go into labour even though the bub is not engaged?

Just curious. Thanks! I`m sure there were another 2 questions, but I can`t remember for the life of me at the moment!!

Oh, one was- do you get a show for each pregnancy- my first was a definite, I had a very small show for my second- in fact I nearly missed it had I not been looking for it-and it was straight after a strip and stretch, and so I`m not sure whether to expect one this time around.

Answer: Hi Jane, Thank you for your enquiry. Most babies do not fully engage when it is after your first. This usually happens in early labour so yes it can stay this way until labour starts. As to the show – every pregnancy is different – you may not really see it sometimes and other times there is a definite show. Usually with second or third births you will start to feel the aches of mild contractions as the first sign of labour. Best wishes, Alex
