My Ob has mentioned there is excess fluid around one of the babies

Dear Alex,
I am expecting Twins, officially end of May making me 24 wks at the moment. My Ob has mentioned there is excess (but not gross excess) fluid around one of the babies. He tried to explain (in his way) what that was but i have come away anxious not really understanding if it is something I need to be concerned about. Are you able to shed some light on the subject and what it means to me and the bubs? I have 2 other children aged 3 and 1.
Thanks in advance,
Jane

Answer: Hi Jane, There are many things that can cause a problem with the fluid around the baby. It may be a slight problem with the twins sharing a placenta and one twin getting a bit more than the other. It can be a problem with the baby not being able to drink the fluid properly. You need to ask to talk to your specialist again and ask for a better explanation. It may help to write down your questions before your appointment so that you remember what to ask. Best wishes, Alex
