I just wanted to ask a questions about c-sections. My daughters shoulders got stuck during my last labour and the midwife said that I would need to have a c-section next labour.
Well I am now 6 weeks pregnant again and just wanted to ask due to my last labour would they let me try to give birth natually or would it be definite that I would need to have a c-section this time? Also if I have a c-section can I also have my tubes clipped at the same time?
Having a problem with the shoulders with your first birth is not really an indication for a caesarean birth next time. It is always preferable to try for a vaginal birth as the mother and baby have fewer complications. Talk to your health care professional to discuss what happened first time and then you should know for sure what is planned. If you are having a Caesar a tubal ligation can be done at the same time. If you do not have a Caesar the tubes are able to b e done with a very quick anaesthetic at another time or you could discuss the possibility of your partner having a vasectomy.
