Scan showed the plecenta was covering baby`s face and she`s head down

hi Alex
im 31wks and having my 3rd at my 20wk scan it show that i had anteriar plecenta and im having another scan at 33wks but at my 4d scan showed the plecenta was covering baby`s face and she`s head down. the reason y they are worried is cause my last baby was a c section and they are worried about the plecenta growing in to the scar. how often dose this happen and is it safer to have another c section i have booked one in on the safe side ? because i natural again but now dont know what to do!cause if all is well i can go natural but how can i be sure?
thank you, jodie SA

Answer: Hi Jodie,
There is an increased risk of a placenta attaching on the scar after a caesarean birth but placentas usually are located high in the uterus late in pregnancy (after 34 weeks) so the chance of complications form this are very rare. It is always better for mother and baby to try for a natural birth unless there is a medical reason to prevent this. If the placenta has risen at the next ultrasound you should be fine to try for a natural birth.
Best wishes,
Alex
