He has come down to the conclusion that it was my hormones that caused the light bleeding

Hi Alex.
I currently have a 6 month old baby girl who was born 6 weeks prem and am now approximately 17 weeks along with my second child. Just before I gave birth, I was told that I had gestational diabetes and in knowing this I had carefully carried on eating healthily and seeing my diabetes specialist fortnightly for this second pregnancy. At the very moment I am a bit worried this time round, as I have noticed some light bleeding after I urinated - this comes and goes and never with any pain or discomfort.

Seeing this I went and saw a doctor who did an ultrasound to check the baby and he has stated that the cervix was sealed and the placenta did not come away from the wall of the womb, nor lying ontop of the cervix itself. He has come down to the conclusion that it was my hormones. I was wondering if it could be anything else that causing this???

Answer: Hi, If the bleeding is vaginal and you have had a check up and a scan where everything was checked then you can continue with everything as normal. If you do start to bleed again you need to notify your health care professional. Some women do bleed small amounts during pregnancy and go on to have a healthy baby. Best wishes, Alex
