What can I do to help me think positive thoughts about my birth experience?

Hello Alex :)
I am 37 weeks pregnant with my 1st bub & now that it is getting closer to the time I`m feeling excited about it but at the same time feeling really nervous & scared, everyone keeps telling me how much pain I`m going to be & how bad the pain is when you`re ready to push, what can I do to help me think positive thoughts about my birth experience?

Also Im not sure what pain relief option is best also.
Thanks,
Mitsy.

Answer: Hi Mitsy, These feelings are very normal and to be expected. Try to have an open attitude to the birth and what happens will happen. Remember that all women are made to give birth and while the pain is quite difficult to bear at least the contractions do ease and there is a rest time between them and usually after about a day you have a great reward at the end. You will then forget about the pain. Talk to your health care professional about what you are feeling so that they are aware of your concerns. Talk to them also about what pain relief options are available to you. Best wishes, Alex
