Dr said "your baby isn`t really growing" and "are you eating?"

I am now nearly 35 wks, had a doctors appointment the other day, she says: "your baby isn`t really growing" and "are you eating?" it took me a while to start to show, then a grew to 30cm, put on 11.5kgs, always been fairly fit. what would she mean by that, and should I be worried?

Answer: Hi, You need to get a second opinion on this. It sounds as if your weight gain is very normal. What you eat and how big the baby is not related really. If the baby is not growing it is not fixed by eating more. If the doctor feels that the baby is not the correct size for its age you need to have further investigations as the placenta may not be functioning properly or there may be some other complication.. If possible see another health care professional for their advice. Best wishes, Alex
