On my last check up my belly had not increased in size at all

Hi Alex,
I have 2 issues that are concerning me. I am 36 weeks pregnant and my belly measurements have always been 1-2cm above average. However on my last check up my belly had not increased in size at all (after 2 weeks). They are sending me for an ultrasound next week. Is this something that routinely happens or could it be a more serious issue?

Secondly, over the past 3 days my baby has been getting the hiccups for long spurts. Usually at night time and they sometimes last for up to 20 mins. Are hiccups all normal or could it be a sign of something else?
Thanks,
Sandy

Answer: Hi Sandy, Measuring of the belly can be quite inaccurate at times and especially at 36 weeks as this is when the baby starts to engage. An ultrasound will definitely work out if it is anything to worry about. Hiccups are very common in late pregnancy and are normal. The baby will probably continue to have hiccups once born. It is nothing to worry about and do not upset the baby. Best wishes, Alex
