I have failed my glucose challenge test

Hello...i just need some help please...I have failed my glucose challenge test and had a result of 10.1 now my doctor wants me to do the second OGTT test . At my doctors appointment she also notices some sugar in my urine. The first glucose challenge test is a non-fasting test and they told me i could eat before the test but i did not eat anything from the night before? Im so worried. Does this mean that my second OGTT test will be positive or could it be ok. And if i do have Gestational Diabetes will my baby be ok ...will the baby need to stay in hospital longer because of this and what will happen will i have to have him early ? Please can you help me and reply back to me asap. Thank you so so much...Regard ...Diana

Answer: Hi, Thank you for your enquiry. The first test is quite inaccurate and can pick up women who do not actually have a problem. The second test is much more accurate as you do have to follow a diet and the test is over a longer period. Try not to worry too much, diabetes in pregnancy is one of the most common problems in pregnancy. If you do have this illness it is best to know and to treat it now so that any complications can be avoided. Best wishes, Alex.
