dear Alex, i am 33 weeks along and already experiencing sharp pains around my cevix area. this is my second child. but there is a 7 year gap between them. i am living alone with my 7year old and we live at least half hour drive away from the hospital. i dont know any one in this town. so i am trying to work out the sure signs of the onset of real labour. i am worried that i will be stuck out here in this tiny little town at least half hour from receiveing help from an ambulance or getting my self to the hospital. and having my 7 year old with me and not knowing what to do. we dont get mobile phone service here. and i ahve tried to explane to my 7 year old what could happen. but i am still worried. could you advise me what is the best advice you could give to me. How will i cope. my birth partner is 4hours away.
Thank you for your enquiry. It is advisable to try to get someone who is able to help you at short notice – what about a school friend of your daughter`s? This will help ease your concerns. The sign of more definite labour commencing is painful regular contractions around every 5 minutes. They need to be regular.
