  4. My Sons 19 months old , how do I get him to stop being so naughty , it seems that when I growl him he doesn't listen, and I'm not the person to smack, how can I teach him to behave so that he knows what hes doing is wrong?

Answer: At 19 months his brain is still forming, he honestly does not and cannot know what he's doing is wrong or naughty. It takes years for children to learn how to be social and behave appropriately, he's not doing this just to anger you, his brain is too immature to know the difference between right and wrong. What's important is that you are consistent, calm and fair with him. Try to follow a regular and predicatable routine each day so he learns to feel secure and that your responses are going to be pretty consistent each time. Learn to discriminate between what's really important and matters and what doesn't. Smacking is not ideal, we know better ways now of managing children's behaviour such as praise when the child is behaving well. Make sure your home environment is set up suitably for him at 19 months any precious or dangerous things will be attractive to him. Make an appt. with your CHN to have him weighed and measured and to see he's on track with his hearing and vision development. Cheers Jane
