Breastfeeding and Bottle Feeding

Both you and your baby benefit from breastfeeding and feeding can be a very loving time for you and the new bub to spend together. Breast milk has all the right amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats and vitamins for your baby’s growth and development. Your breast milk also contains antibodies which will support your baby s immunity and help prevent infections such as upper respiratory tract infections and gastroenteritis.

Bottle Feeding
The term formula feeding means giving your baby formula milk in a bottle.

Lactase is naturally produced in the small cells that line the intestinal canal; hence any condition that affects the health and integrity of these cells can impair lactase production.

Starting solids
Introducing baby solids is an important and exciting step in your growing baby’s health and development.
One of the most important things you can give your baby is a balanced, healthy diet.
What do babies need to grow and develop into bouncing babies and healthy active toddlers? Looking after the nutritional needs of an infant until six months is fairly easy: feed them breastmilk (ideally) or formula.
Remember that all babies are different. They eat different amounts, have different taste and texture preferences, and progress at different rates.
Between 4 and 6 months, although most commonly closer to 6 months. Up to the first 4 to 6 months of an infant’s life, breast milk or formula will provide all their nutritional requirements for growth. At around 6 months, the iron stores that baby gained in utero begin to run low, which is one of the reasons we start solids around this time.
