Nameing Day Lock Rss

HI All,

Quick question, what is the difference between a Christening and a Naming Day.

Apart from the obvious - one is a relgious ceremony and the other isn't, I am wanting to know what a nameing day is and what is the purpose of it.

Interested to know...

we have had naming ceremonies for all 3 kids, we weren't married in a church-each to their own just don't go to church am not religious in any way so didn't see the point to pushing a christening onto the kids(to complete horror from religious mother-in-law) we got the same celebrant who married us, she gave us a ceremony to choose from, poems read and basically it's to welcome your new arrival into the world with your family and friends. We have the ceremony held at our house and have lunch after with chickens, salads and a special "on your naming day cake", a great relaxed day where your family and friends can meet thone gets together, you can write yiour own thing and we love them, good luck!
