Hips Rss

Hi

My little one had a dislocatable hip and was put in a pavlik harness from 5 days old, she is now 4 1/2 months and had the harness removed about a month and a half ago.

Has anyone else had this and seen any problems later in life?

Catherine
My DD had a slightly immature left hip and had numerous scans. They decided not to put a brace on and thankfully it grew normally. I was told a few times that there is no problems if it was identified early and corrected. It will be interesting to hear of real life stories though.

I bet you are relieved to have that darn thing of your little one.

DD is 3yr 8 months - DS is 6 months

Hello Catherine,

It is great that your little girl was discovered early with the dislocated hip. I was seven months when I was first diagnosed with dislocated hips. I was put into traction for a quite some time as it was discovered late and the positioning of the hips. I have at no stage since had any problems with my hips, leading a very active lifestyle and giving birth to my first child in February this year.

As of the family history my son was checked extensively. With his first ultrasound they noticed immaturity, but not of great concern, five weeks later we had another ultrasound done and Jonah is perfect.

Hope this is of help,

Liza

Hey Catherine
My daughter was born with both hips dislocated and was in a von rosen splint for the first 4 months of her life. She is now 11 months and is crawling everywhere and walking around the furniture - she is at about the same stage as other babies her age that didn't have the problem. She has checkups with the specialist every 3 months and so far so good. I had the same problem as a baby and am fine now.
Fingers crossed for your baby!
