Breastfeeding & Teeth Lock Rss

My almost 10 month old daughter has 2 teeth on the bottom, and 3 up the top. Up until now, things have been going well with breastfeeding, until yesterday. Her bottom teeth seem to be rubbing on my nipple. She's not biting me, they are just rubbing. And it's so painful, I don't know what to do!! Anyone else have the same problem? Any solutions?

hi there,
the bottom teeth should not be rubbing as the baby's tongue is supposed to go over her teeth when breastfeeding. ususally it's the top teeth that cause discomfort until both you and the baby get used to the new teeth, it may be that she is not attaching properly and you haven't noticed before the teeth came along.
perhaps you should call the breastfeeding assoc. they have counsellors available on call and they may be able to advise you further.
