Lazy eye / squint surgery Rss

I was wondering if those of you who have had or know someone who have had surgery for a lazy eye could let me know:

1. how old you/they were when surgery took place
2. how successful it was.
Thanks.

Hi there, i had the surgery when i was 4 and im now 31, im sure its a lot better now. You cant tell unless your looking for it that i have a lazy eye and although my vision isnt great its never stopped me doing anything including driving, so pretty good really.
hey i had surgery when i was 5years old, my vision is completley fine its just the eyelid its self that wouldnt open properly
i had lazy eye surgery wen i was 2, im now 21. the surgery itself was a 45 min procedure but mine took 7 hours as my throat enclosed on the oxygen pipe and i stopped breathing..
The surgery itself was a fail lol i had to have glasses till i was 18 and a corrective surgery when i was 16.
Then my younger cousin had the same thing (lazy eye) got glasses prescribed when he was 4.. wore them for 5 years and his eyes corrected themselves.
My daughter has a lazy eye and the hospital refuses to do surgery as 84% of childrens eyes can correct themselves with glasses. smile
Who knew haha..
My girl had a lazy eye as a baby, we got sent to a specialist, who suggested surgery as worst case scenario, she prescribed an eye patch worn for a few hours a day to help correct it, it worked well and her eyesight has been given the all clear now at 3 smile
my DD had a lazy eye and had the op at 3 1/2 after 2 years of patching and her brain started switching off using that eye. Apparently if left at this state the child can go blind. The op was a success although it still turns when she is really tired. Her vision is great now. If you want any info let me know smile
