AT WHAT AGE DO YOU STOP BURPING A BABY Lock Rss

Hi there

My DD is 7 months old and I still burp her after her bottle.

I was just wondering when do you have to stop burping a baby?

I have a few pregnancy and baby books but have never come across this subject.

Any advice.

Cheers
Hi Josy
I still give Jeb a little burp after his bottles now at 10 months but only if he doesn't get it up himself, which he does most times. At 7 months I used to also see if he needed a burp after solids which were always followed by a drink of some sorts. I just did it not knowing if I should or not?....better out then in...lol!!!
Well, I was told you don't ever burb babies as at teaches them not to be able to bring up wind by themselves. Though, I thought that was a big heap of crap, so I too burb my DD and she is just over 7 months..I would think you would stop once they stop having a bottle? Dunno, I will be interested to see what others say!!
Sorry couldn't help!!
Pretty much once they can sit up by themselves. They still need to burp but can usually get it up while sitting. I find a drink of water often helps.
HI
My dd is 10 1/2 months old and I still put her over my shoulder while I take her to bed, just in case she has a bit of gas. She usually does. So you might not have to pat her back for ages, just pop over your shoulder in case there is one, dont sit there for ages though if she hasnt done one in a minute or so.
