boiled water Rss

Hi
For Xmas my parents gave us a water purifier (just what we always wanted!!!!??!!) I was wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to use the purified water rather than boiling water for my 12wo baby girl's bottles? Also, does everyone religiously sterilise knives when they are scooping the formula into the bottle?

I was told that u must still use sterilised water until about 12 months by our local early childhood nurse and I am the sort of person who does what I am told lol

Hi Larissa, I was also told to boil water until they're about 12 months by one health clinic. Another clinic told me that if my child was crawling around and eating things off the ground or picking up other germs off the ground then why boil water?! I have also been told that some water purifiers take the fluoride out of the water so you might check if yours does. Obviously babies and children need the fluoride. I still boil water for my daughter who 8 months and almost crawling around. I will probably continue to do so until she's 12 months.

Hi Larissa,
I have a water purifier too. I was told that you don't have to boil the purified water, but I still boil it for my 8.5 month old son, just to be on the safe side. As for sterilising your knives, that wouldn't be nessesary as long as they have been cleaned proberly in hot soapy water and rinsed under the purifed water. Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for all the advice, i thought it's probably best to still boil the water and i mean, it doesn't take long!!!

what knife? Sod that! I just run the scoop up the side of the tin to level of the formula. We have enough things to keep sterilizing as it is!!
