I have a 5 month old baby boy who was breast feed till he was 3 and a 1/2 months old. He was gaining weight every week anywhere between 100-300 grams but he was very unsettled he was diagnosed with reflux and put on Zantac. I put him on formula just before christmas as he was always hungry he started really well but for the last 4-6 weeks he is refusing to take a bottle. The only way I can get him to feed is when he is almost asleep and then usually this wakes him up. I am trying him on some rice cereal but he is not really interested they say not to worry so the week I let him just drink what he wanted he lost weight.

Any ideas of the problem I have had him checked out and all seems fine?

Hi Kerri and Blake

We had the same problem and switched our little boy over to Infasoy which has no lactose in it. He now drinks his full bottles. No harm in trying a different formula.

We also found that Joshua was constipated and this would stop him from drinking. We took him to the doc and purchased a laxative syrup. After 10 mls he is all freed up now and is happy to drink again.

Hi Kerri and Blake

I too had the same problem with my daughter, she is lactose intollerent and we put her on formula at 3 months, she is having Infasoy, our doctor also gave us Zantac for reflux but it made her worse, I was nearly in tears somedays it got so bad. so we went to a specialist at 6 months (it took us that long to get an appointment) and got losec and after 1 day she was 100% more settled and she was only on it for a month before she nolonger needed it.

We too were told by doctors that she was fine and we had to put up with it and that she would grow out of it so we found another doctor who refered us to the specialist, so keep trying..

I know its hard, I thought it would never end but it did so good luck and I hope your boy feels better soon.
