Do u have to sterilise cups? Lock Rss

This may sound like a really dumb question, but if I want to give formula from a cup do I have to sterilise it?

My bub is 8mths and has been exclusively b/f and drinks water from a cup (I don't sterilise it for water). Just wondering if there is any reason I would have to do it for formula ...

Mia (also 8 mths) drinks out of the Avent bottle with the sipper bit so I sterilise that but I don't sterilise her bowls or spoons so wouldn't that be much the same?

I read some posts that some of the girls don't even sterilise the bottles, just wash them in soapy hot water and rinse or chuck em in the dishwasher. I sterilise mine but only cause I am an@l and I have an electric steriliser so it is super easy.

Anyways, to cut a long story short... I wouldn't sterilise a cup!

I have a microwave steriliser - its pretty good (quick). The clinic nurse said you don't have to sterilise items unles you are sharing them. They say hot soapy water does the trick. As always though, each to their own - do what you think is best.
