As her what her mum / or MIL was like when she had her first baby... did she drive her nuts with unwanted advice as well and constantly tell her what to do? laugh

laugh She is just like her own mother was, which I have rather bluntly pointed out but she is oblivious! roll eyes

laugh blink
They are ALL like that... & we will ALL probably be like that when our daughters (if you have one) have babies.

I remember i had heaps of b/f trouble with DS - he was prem - & my mum was trying to help me breast feed by grabbing at my nipples & stuff - eeeek - ummm, should probably add in there that she has never breast fed a baby in her life!! I decided that i would remove myself from the same room as her after that if i needed to feed, so what did she do?? follows me... argh. I was having enough issues as it was without her interference thanx... roll eyes

wacko You poor thing, that would be so much worse at least mine is just blah blah blah, you can zone out laugh

No offence hon, but you need to tell her that it is your decision NOT HERS!! There are so many benefits of breastfeeding that if you are happy doing it and not having problems then it's best for everyone to keep it up!

Oh she has been told 100000000 times, the woman does not know when to shut up! I now resort to ignoring her until she gets the message!

I agree!
My mum and mother in law were both telling me that "theres nothing wrong with giving them a formula feed to make them sleep through" I just told them that I wanted to feed my baby how I wanted to...what do you know 4 months on and she is fully breast fed and sleeping through! No formula required!

It is so frustrating as the advice comes from the goodness of their hearts but you have to have faith in your ability to be a good mum and just let the unwanted advice go straight over your head! If you want to BF keep going and ignore them, it is best for baby anyway xx
It's so nice to know I'm not the only one with a crazy annoying mum. I'm sure they all mean well but seriously how many times do they need to be told to get back in their box!? laugh
Ah well at least we know we are doing the very best for our bubs, even if they don't get it!

Isn't it oh so satisfying to be doing the best for your bub and then prove your point smile

Extremely haha tongue
My mum has been asking me since DS was 9 months when im going to wean. Now he is 1 she asks it more often. She knows my plan was to wean at 1 but DS has been sick for months so feeding is his comfort and being sick has been such a horror sleeper (sorry been a horror sleeper since he was born <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />) so not yet ready to night wean him yet. Any sleep is sleep. My mum though fed all 3 of us until 18 months so has never encouraged formula. I just ignore the questions now and mum is asking me less.

You're so not alone smile Some pre-prepared responses for you courtesy of LLL and pass the bean dip....

I just read the "pass the bean dip" (hilarious!!) but I was soo disturbed by the fact her MIL said breastfeeding past a certain time is only for the sexual pleasure of the mother blink WTF?!?
