pains after delivery Rss

i had my baby a week ago and now i am experiencing pain that hasnt happened with my previous children. when i have been sitting down or lying in bed when i stand up and try to walk i get a pain in my groin mainly the left side. can you tell me please what this might be. thanks
Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry. Pain is the left side of the groin is quite common after birth. It is mainly to do with your ligaments that are stretched during pregnancy getting back onto a better position. It can also be related to bowel function, so ensure that you are not constipated. Also ensure that you empty your bladder regularly. ‘After pains’ can also sometimes be felt on the left side. This is where the uterus is contracting back to its normal size. This is more apparent during breast feeding.
