Baby Weight Gain Lock Rss

Hi Alex,

I have a 7 week old baby girl born 3650g. Is there any information or can you please provide for me an idea of how much my daughter should be gaining in weight per week. I would also appreciate it if you could break this up into ages because from reading the Huggies site, I have learned that as they go on to solids they will slow down and will from about 4/5 months.

Thanks

EJS

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry. It is best to discuss weight gain with your early childhood health centre. They can individually assess your daughter. Babies don’t tend to all gain weight at a set amount, especially breast fed babies. They tend to have growth spurts – these are around 6 weeks, 12 weeks and 6 months. Try not to get too concerned about weight – a happy health baby is one that settles, sleeps & feeds regularly and has around 6 wet nappies a day.

Best wishes,
Alex.
