overdue and cant be induced Lock Rss

I have had a previous caesaeran and am currently 41 weeks pregnant. My obstetrician has told me that I cannot be induced due to the risk of my scar opening and that if i dont deliver in the next week it will mean a planned c-section. What risk is there for the baby if I refuse the c-section and wait for spontaneous labour to start over 42 weeks gestation?
Hi,
Thank you for your enquiry. It is safe for a pregnancy to go to 42 weeks if everything is healthy and normal. Quite often hospitals and doctors like to monitor the baby more closely if a woman goes over 41 weeks to make sure that the placenta is still working as it should. There are a few things that you could try to start the labour. Such as, warm baths, long walks, sex and plenty of nipple stimulation. Sometimes just waiting that little bit longer is the best thing to do and your body takes control.
Best wishes,
Alex.
