chest infection and pregnant Lock Rss

I have a severe chest infection & am 37 weeks pregnant. I have now started coughing blood up with my mucus. I'm concerned what this is doing to my baby as the coughing is very severe.

Alexis, VIC

Thank you for your enquiry. The coughing probably is not affecting the baby in any way. It is best to cough up any mucous that you have from the infection. Try to keep up your pelvic floor exercises as the coughing may affect this and you may feel that you can’t hold on to your urine. You should consult your GP for your chest infection as you may need antibiotics to clear it up.
Best wishes,
