My 18 month old dosn't sleep through! Lock Rss

My 18 month old has rarely slept through the night! I find that if I get up and turn on his music (which runs for 10 mins) he goes straight back to sleep but the constant broken sleep is getting to me.
I have been told that when he wakes up I should just let him cry as it is the only way that he will learn to settle himself but when I try this he will cry for about 1 hour and I loose more sleep than if I had of just got up.
He sleeps from about 1.30 to 3.00 during the day and I put him down at night about 7.30. He has no trouble falling asleep it is just when he wakes up.
I havn't had a full nights sleep since I was 7 months pregnant!!!

Hi,
The music in the night has become a habit and it is his sleep association.

If you want to break the habit you could use settling techniques rather than just letting him ‘cry it out’ they give a clear and repetitive message that it’s time to sleep.

It does seem easier to just get up rather than start baby crying by using settling techniques but it will only be for a week or so and it’s over, and you will all be sleeping through the night.

You can get details for this on <a href="http://www.huggies.com/au/pregnancy_parenting/yourbabysleep/">Your Baby’s Sleep</a> page or from It’s Time to Sleep DVD&BOOK

Huggies have a great discount offer on at the moment – see <a href="http://www.huggies.com/au/about_huggies/special_offers/bookoffer/">Member Exclusive Book Offers</a>
