1 yo still waking up for night feeds Lock Rss

My son has just turned a year old two weeks ago. I'm trying to get him off his night feeds by giving him water instead of milk when he wakes up but he just keeps on crying. After about 10 minutes I feel bad so I get him a bottle and he finishes a whole 250ml bottle of milk. How can I get him off the night feeds when he is hungry enough to be able to finish 250ml about every 5 hours? I mean, if his hungry then his hungry, I can't really leave him to starve through the night... can I? He eats well during the day but he is still just so hungry during the night as well. How do I do it without feeling so bad that I'm hurting him?

Hi,
It really is heart breaking to hear baby cry and I know because I’ve been there.

You could try using a rollover feed. After putting baby to bed at about 7pm you wake baby gently at 10pm and offer a feed.

If baby wakes at other times then you can go straight into using settling techniques knowing confidently that baby is not hungry.

You can get details for our settling program from Your Baby’s Sleep page or from <a href="It's time to sleep</a"http://www.itstimetosleep.com/">It's Time To Sleep DVD&BOOK
