daytime sleeping Lock Rss

My 5 and 1/2 week old son sleeps well during the night, waking only once at 2am, and sleeping from 7.30 - 6.30. However, I am really struggling to get him to sleep during the day. He has naps of 20 minutes here and there, but nothing routine. How can I encourage him to have a longer sleep during the day routinely? As a general rule he naps after feeding, but then wakes and won't go back to sleep even though he is tired.

Hi,
You would do well to follow a feed/play/sleep routine and feed when baby wakes (or due) play and then watch for tired signs and then settle him awake into the cot.
If waking after a 20min cat nap use the settling techniques to resettle – try for up to 15mins.
You can get an overview of our settling program from the <a href=" https://www.huggies.com.au/BeingAParent/YourBab... Baby’s Sleep</a> section of the Huggies site or for more detail, and a visual demonstration, from <a href="It&#39;s time to sleep&lt;/a" />It's Time To Sleep</a> DVD&BOOK.
Cheers
