sleeping position Lock Rss

My baby has a flat area on the left side of her head that has happened over the last 6 weeks. We have been told by a specialist that it developed because she favours the left side of her head and will only sleep on that side. This will cause problems in learning ability and her neck strength is weak for her age of 11 wks. She favours that side because of a slight abnormality in the left hip but it is fixable. One of the things we have to do is sleep her on her right side to take the pressure off the left. I have been told since she was born to only sleep her on her back so I'm worried about putting her on her side. Is it alright to do so and what is the safest way to do it?

Hi,
It’s best to follow the advice of your specialist and follow the SIDS and Kids recommendations for safe sleeping and set up the cot accordingly. Don’t be afraid to question your doctor and ask him to explain, or even write down, his instructions.
Cheers Maree
