6 month old & night sleep problems Lock Rss

Hi, I have a 6month old daughter who has (up until 2 weeks ago) slept through the night from 10 weeks of age and anywhere between 10-12 hours per night. Over the last 2 weeks something has changed and she is now constantly waking anywhere from 4-8 times per night. She is also wide awake and although there is no crying, she is happy to chat away until she becomes grizzly. In the last 4 days I have changed her meal / bottle routine but I'm still having sleepless nights with Sophia. She normally has 3 sleeps during the day and am just wondering if I need to cut out one sleep, although by the time 6pm comes she is exhausted & I struggle to get the last bottle in. Is this common for this age or am I doing something wrong?? Any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated. Do you think I should do away with her dummy at this age?? Thanks for your help, Nicole

Hi Nicole,
At 6 months Sophia should be starting to change to 2 naps per day, but the best way to decide is by watching for her tired signs and acting on them straight away.

When she wakes in the night you could try our settling techniques for 6 to 12 months old, they give a clear message that it's time to sleep not to play. You can get details for the settling program in Your Baby’s Sleep section or from <a href="It's time to sleep</a"http://www.itstimetosleep.com/">It's Time To Sleep DVD& BOOK.

Dummies are a parents choice and are not a real problem unless they are constantly waking because they have lost the dummy.
