Little Sleep Lock Rss

My 12 month old son has, in the past 2.5 months started to wake up around 2am every night. Some nights we cuddle him for about 5 minutes and then put him back in his cot. As soon as we put him down he starts screming, so we pick him up and start all over again. This can last up to 2 hours. In the end we give up and either let him sleep in our bed or we fall asleep in the chair cuddling him. If we fall asleep for an hour then put him back in his cot he will normally sleep through until 8am. We have always rocked him to sleep, ever since we brought him home, and ever since stopping his overnight feeds he has slept for approx 11 hours per night, that is until mid June. Do babies wake themselves if they are too warm/cold? We do have a heater in him room which keeps the temp around 21 degrees. He has never been much of a sleeper during the day. Most days he will get two sleeps of only 20 minutes at a time and now that his is getting us up throughout the night the stress is starting to show.

Any ideas that will help?

He seems to be associating going to sleep with your comfort and unless you teach him to sleep independently he probably won't change this habit in the foreseeable future. You might like to look at our settling program for 6 to 12months old on Your Baby’s Sleep page or get a copy of <a href="It's time to sleep</a"">It's Time To Sleep DVD&Book.

Huggies has a great offer on at the moment (see Huggies Member Exclusive Book Offers)
