HELP - feeding 3 hourly when formula fed!! Lock Rss

Is this normal?

My 3 week old son changed to NAN HA GOLD from S26 GOLD on the advice of a midwife about two weeks ago.

He is feeding every 2.5 - 3 hours (occassionaly I get a 4 hour gap if I'm lucky) so he's averaging 7 - 8 feeds per day. He also averages between 110 - 130 ml per feed.

I'm not sure what his current weight is, but he was born 3.565 kg so he's not exactly a 'big' baby - at least he didn't start out that way!! What's going on? Is his excessive feeding normal??? Does anyone else have a hungry bub?

Gees, it's 2.30am so I'm obviously desperate for some answers : )

My DD was a big baby 9 pound 11. She's been on formula since day one. At 2 weeks she started drinking 150ml every 3 hours (7-8 bottles) and still does now at 3 months (6 bottles a day now).

If they want to feed every 2 to 2.5 hours then they are usually hungry. Increase the bottle to 150ml and see how he goes. Remember they only drink if they are hungry.
