breastmilk Rss

can someone please tell me the difference between foremilk and hindmilk! I have heard these words used before, but have no idea exactly what they are. Thanks!

Hi Brandons Mum

The foremilk comes out at the beginning of the feed and is quite watery and quenches your baby's thirst. The hind milk has more fat and nutrients and fills them up. Our child health nurse said not to worry too much about it as your body produces exactly what your baby needs, for example on really hot days apparently you have more foremilk to compensate for your baby's need of extra water. Hope this helps.
