RUDE DOCTOR Lock Rss

HI. JUST THOUGHT THAT I WOULD SHARE WITH YOU ALL MY RECENT VISIT TO MY CLINIC APPOINTMENT. MY OB WAS SO RUDE TO ME. SHE MORE OR LESS TOLD ME SHE WOULD PREFER IT IF I DID NOT EAT ANY MORE FOOD AS SHE SAID IVE REACHED MY MAX PREGNANCY WEIGHT GAIN. IVE ONLY PUT ON 9KGS AND IM 35 WEEKS PREG!
ALSO, SHE SAID THAT I CANT HAVE THE ACTIVE LABOUR THIS TIME ROUND AS I WILL BE BED BOUND CAUSE SHE SAYS THAT THE BABY IS SCRAWNY! AND I WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED CONSTANTLY. THIS HAS MADE ME SO ANGRY AND HURT AND IM SO UPSET AS THIS TIME I REALLY WANTED TO TRY FOR A VBAC. WHAT CAN I DO? HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER HAD A DOCTOR WHO WAS SO RUDE? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

HI. I WISH I COULD CHANGE OB'S. BUT BECAUSE IM ATTENDING A PUBLIC HOSPITAL I GET WHATEVER DOCTOR IS ON DUTY. IM ONLY HOPING THAT WHEN I DO GO INTO LABOUR THAT, I GET A DIFFERENT DOCTOR.

TRISH
how can she tell you not to et any more food, but tht you will be bed bound because the baby scrawny? that is ridiculous, and could be putting your baby in danger!

Your poor thing! ... but just think it's not about you ... that bitchy doctor obviously has had a bad day/life etc! Try not to take it personally.

You can always put in a formal complaint, because hospital management need to know these kinds of things. You're probably not the only one.

ps. I put about 25kg when I was pregnant with my daughter! The only bad thing about that was how hard it was to get off when she was born....but who cares now!

I think you should write a letter of complaint about the Obs attitude and disrespect towards you. It is only when we start to stick up for ourselves and make it extremely clear disrespect will not be tolerated that this kind of thing will stop. And you can also add in that you wish it to be put into your chart that you do not wish to see that Ob again...it is your right

I would definately put in a complaint. Phone the hospital and tell them that you don't want to see that doctor again, explain why and don't be afraid to cry. It will show them how much it has really upset you. Just because you are a public patient doesn't mean you can't change obs. You still have the right to feel comfortable about who you are trusting to take care of you and your little one. If this ob has been rude, upset you and stressed you out then it would be in yours and yours babies best interests not to have to deal with this person again. Point out to them that it will just cause you stress at every appointment and the birth and this is bad for bubs. Also make sure that they put in your notes that this ob is not to be there when you do have bubs.
Having a bad day is no excuse to treat someone like that, besides, pregnant women know about bad days better than most people (goodness knows we have enough of them. lol) and we don't take it out on hospital staff.

Weight gain is no real indicator of the health of the baby (thats why most drs/midwives dont weigh you as much).
Just ignore what she said and keep eating healthy foods. Was the bub measurng smaller than your gestation?

i would be reporting her, she has no right to treat you like that. So what that you're 9kgs, i'm 10kgs and i know many women that are around 20kgs.

I'm only seen by midwives and they are great, have never said anything about my weight...i was overweight to start with.

i would suggest talking to the hospital about it, as chances are you aren't the only who has been treated like that by the doctor, it can only take one complaint to change things for others

Hi, she sounds horrible!! Definatly make a complaint. Contact the hospitals Client/Paitent Liaison Officer. Don't bother contacting reception they are useless. It is the Liaison Officers job to deal with all complaints and no complaint can be overlooked.

Honestly - im not normally one to complain, but with the public health system its often the only way! I made a complaint a while ago because the hospital operated on my ovary to remove a tumour, pumped me full of drugs and nobody told me i was 8 weeks pregnant, (i found out at 13 weeks)surely operating in the area a 'professional' would have noticed. They also didn't pick it up in ultrasounds or bloodtests. They are incompetent!! Now im terrified that my baby will have something wrong. Anyway after complaining i get the best treatment, they organise appointments for me at times to suit me and ring me to follow up check that im still OK to attend, they also don't keep me waiting... its great lol...

I say go for it.. complain. Let them know and trust me the treatment will improve!

Good luck with it all smile

HI LADIES, THANKS FOR YOUR REPIES. I HAD A GROWTH SCAN DONE AT 28 WEEKS AND BUBS WAS GROWING OK. MY LAST BUB ONLY WEIGHED 5LB 2oz WHEN BORN 1 WEEK EARLY, SO WE ARE GUESSING THIS ONE IS THE SAME. MAYBE I SHOULD GO BACK TO MY ORIGINAL DOCTOR WHO LIVES IN BALLARAT!
