how long did your induction take Rss

hello

i am due to be induced tomorrow at 38weeks due to high bp and was wondering if you have been induced and how long from induction till labour as i am told it can take up to 24hours.
i was induced dec last year and they put the cervix thinner gel on my cervix three times (i was 14 days over due) on the third day they did that they waited an hour broke my waters and started with the drip i needed the biggest amount that the body is allowed to have and i was in labour for 3 and a half hours and it took me three pushes and he was out, but the midwives told me that some women will go into labour just having the gel on their cervix or they only need a minimal amount of the drip and they are in hard labour which would be the ladies that have an hour labour smile
My first induction was just breaking my waters and thing started after about3 hours and my second only had my waters broken also, no gel needed and contractions started within 10mins. My first labour was 2h53m and my second 2h19mins
My waters broke at home, got to the hospital an hr later and was given the drip, was another 12hrs before i had DD after the drip being given and even up the dosage
I was induced at 38 weeks for PIH as well. It took about 7 hours for anything to happen but after that it was all very quick! My waters broke naturally then 2 hours later bub was born... I only had the gel once, no drip at all.
My waters had already broken two weeks earlier...
Drip started at 8am, baby was out by 5pm
I was induced at 14days over, I went in on a sunday arvo, they put the gel on me at about 8pm, the next day was taken to birthing room at 6am, where they put the drip in me and attached a monitor to me , they then came and broke my waters at about 815am, then they started to put that stuff in my drip that makes your contractions start, by 11am the contractions were coming with great guns with no breaks what so eva, so i was on the gas (that was great, i would just suck on it until i almost padd out lol) but i gave in and had the epiduaral at 1pm, after th 3rd attempt they finally got it in lol, (they told me to to arch my back like an angry cat, so here i am sucking on the gas until almostpassing out lol running over in my head angry pascoe, angry pascoe Lol pascoe is my cat) any i then just got to sit there an watched stupid tv (bad reception kept cutting out) well my boottom halwent numb (it as great smile ) then at about 715pm i was ready to push and our DD was born at 741pm.
sorry for the over long story smile
Good Luck with it all!

Hi Macy,
I was induced also due to high bp. I had a 24 hour labour after being induced but that is pretty abnormal. A friend of mine was induced and baby was born in 8 hours. So everyone is different. I hope u get some sleep tonight. Its so hard to sleep the night before being induced so much running through the brain. Just think this time tomorrow u will prob have your bubs right beside u. All the best.

I was given the gel at 6pm, nothing really happened till 3am and then it hit me at full force and I ended up haemorraging and had an emergency caesar. I went from 0 to 100 in a matter of half an hour - dont know why but it all ended well, bub came out screaming and that is all I cared about.
First application of gel at 6pm Friday, baby born by emergency c-section at 3am Sunday (after more gel, manual water-breaking, syntocinin drip, epidural, catheter, gas etc). Got to 6 cm but didn't labour didn't continue to progress. But baby was quite big, posterior and his head was becoming caput! But all that doesn't seem to matter once you see your gorgeous baby!

Hi there,

After a S&S didnt work the previous evening with DS and with BP still rising, I was given the drip at 2pm, and gave birth at 7.30pm. I didnt even feel any contractions for the first 2 or 3 hours, so they kept upping the dose in the drip! Mind you, once I did feel them, it was like hell had broken loose!
I have heard from friends that the gel is rubbish, although I wasn't given the option so I cant really say from personal experience.

HI,

I was Induced at 38 weeks & 3 days due to GD.
I started having contractions on my own at 5am i was given one lot of gel at about 10am & had DD at 9:24pm that night so it took about 10-11 hours.
Good Luck smile
