Placenta Previa Lock Rss

Hi all just wondering if any one out there has placenta previa/ had and their stories.

I have grade 4 placenta previa currently 30 weeks had a small bleed at 26 weeks.

Dr has put me on rest at home if we have any more bleeding have been told it will be stay in hospital until baby born or if a bigger bleed emergency delivery.

I would love to hear from people that have been through this and when your babies were delivered or arrived due to this condition? and how your recovery was?

The c section is not making me anxious as i had one with my first baby due to a small pelvis- its just the unknown knowing you could bleed anytime sad

Thanks look forward to hearing from others smile
Hi Amanda,

I have placenta previa also. On my 18 week scan, i was told I had a 'low lying' placenta but not to worry because in most pregnancies it moves upwards as everything stretches. At 21 weeks I woke up in the middle of the night bleeding. To me it seemed like a rather large bleed (dripping every where when i stood up). My hubby got me in the car and we rushed to the hospital. We were then told I had the highest grade placenta previa (placenta was fully covering the cervix). I had another bleed later that day also. My obstetrician told me, if I continued to have big bleeds, he would have to deliver the baby no matter if it was viable or not. I was on total bed rest for about 4 weeks after the bleeds and since then have not been able to go back to work, do any cleaning/washing (what a shame!) or anything strenuous at all. My poor hubby! At 29 weeks, I had another bleed (again in the middle of the night) and that was after a day or resting around home.

Im now 32 weeks + 3 days and feeling really good. There is a good chance I'll have to have a caesarian but Im not too bothered, as I feel very lucky to have got so far in the pregnancy. I had a scan at 29 weeks which showed the placenta had moved slightly, but the edge was still over the cervix. I asked to have steroid injections after having the bleed at 29 weeks to help develop bubs lungs should I have a big bleeding leading to an emergency c-sar. Sorry Im not far enough along to tell ya how the delivery went, but thought I'd share my story with you anyway. Best of luck with everything and rest up.
Kristy

Amanda
hey
i have a good placenta previa story..... i was diagnosed at 20weeks & 28weeks with a major (complete) placenta previa. I was very lucky to have no bleeds and have just had another U/S at 32weeks to find out to my amazement it has moved completely out of the way!! WOW.
I know this does not happen very often at all and is a small chance, but it can move. My doctor was pretty shocked. and same with the U/S tech.
I was stressing everyday about having a bleed.
I hope everything goes well for you and remember to rest and do not do too much. I pretty much had myself on restricted duties to try and avoid any bleeds.

hey there 00Neatz00,
Im so happy for you that its has moved!! It is the worst the waiting and taking it easy just incase.

I went for my 32 week scan today but no movement at all for me still complete previa sad but hey at least we are prepared for it these days with the technology we have!!

i have to have baby delivered by a specialist which we will see her thursday and will hopefully get some dates if we dont have any bleeds in between cant wait to have some sort of in control feeling!!

Thanks for sharing your story very much appreciated

Cheers
Amanda
hi amanda
i really hope everything goes ok with the rest of your pregnancy.
the only thing u can do is take it as easy as u can and hope u dont get put up in hospital for bed rest with another bleed.
i know my 32 week appoint was d-day as my placenta is anterior which might have caused complications too - but i was very fortunate with it moving.
the specialists know wat they r dealing with and will have everything ready to go in case of an emergency & any complications in ur c-section. and ur baby will be ok if born premmie too. its amazing the medical technology these days.
u will most likely meet ur baby before me, as i can go to term now so i am looking at 31 october.....
stay positive.

Thankyou so much for you support,
Yes we live in a small town and the hospital where im having the baby is two and a half hours away but Dr hear is quite confident now we are further along even if they did have to deliver here due to a bleed then send us via air or road ambulance to the bigger hopsital.
We are so very lucky with modern technology and i feel quite comfortable and safe with the health professional i have been seeing.
end of October will come around fast enough for you!! I hope all goes well with yourself and your little bundle.
Thanks again for your kind and supportive words greatly appreciated.

Hi Amanda,

How did you USS go?? Any movement at all. You would not believe two days after I wrote that post i had another bleed and then another 48 hours later. Stayed in hospital for 5 days but both times and settled down again. I had a USS just before I went home and to my amazement.. my scan at 33 weeks showed that the placenta is now 3.4cm away from the cervix YAY. So my obstetrician is happy for me to go into labour and deliver naturally unless i has bleeding during the delivery.

Hoping you had some luck too, but either way I will thinking of you and hoping for the best. Your doing a fantastic job to get this far along in the pregnancy. Well done!!

Anita, Lovely to hear you story!! Its so nice to hear something positive for once. We may have our babies on the same day or pretty close because my obstetrican is letting me go to term aswell and DD is OCT 30. Looking forward to hearing how you go.

hi amanda - just wondering how u r going with everything. hope it is going k for & u r not on too much bed rest. was also wondering if u know when u will have ur precious baby yet?? n if by any miracle ur pp has moved?

kristy, how r u going with ur pregnancy. i am getting a tad excited now, going on the hospital tour tomorrow, hope they can give me the birthing room with the bath, but will see.

My GP I seen the other day cause i wasnt feeling too good says everything is ready to go (he used to deliver babies but cause of the cost of insurances etc he isnt anymore sad but wish i could have seen him for my check ups, he is much nicer n takes time to chat n make sure everything is k) But i know that means it could still be 4 weeks away.....37weeks on Sunday & having a pregnancy photoshoot on Tuesday evening. Cant wait!

I had Grade 4 Placenta Previa. I had my first bleed at 28 weeks and was in hospital for a week. I was allowed to go home due to living close to the hospital but had to finish up at work early and not travel further than 20 mins from the hospital. Had my 2nd bleed at 35 weeks and spent 1 night in hospital. Was scheduled for a cesarean at 37 weeks then 2 days prior I had an enormous bleed. It was terrible. I ended up being taken to hospital in an Ambulance and had a cesarean within the hour. Baby and I were fine but it was scary. I did not realise how bad it would be and certainly would have rested more if my first bleed was as bad as the last. It's hard to rest, especially with a toddler at home but I wish I did rest more. My advice is to take it easy. The hardest bit is feeling like you are a walking time bomb. In all 3 instances I had no warning I was going to bleed. The only link was that prior to each bleed I had carried my toddler. Don't do lift anything. It's not worth it.
