No periods, TTC #2 Lock Rss

Hi all!
DH and I have been TTC #2 for 6 months now. I haven't had a period in 5 months, and ovulation tests haven't shown that I have ovulated at all.
DS (3 years) was a surprise, I was on the pill when we concieved him.
I've been to see my GP, and he has referred me to a gyno, but my appt isn't until May.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

sorry, double post.

Hey, we have been TTC #2 for 2 and a half years now. My AF was all over the place since DS was 3 (he is now 5). I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries about 2 years ago.I used ovulation tests and it never showed up a positive either. We are currently seeing a fertility specalist, have had a number of scans, bloods ect done and tomorrow am going in for a HSG to check if my fallopian tubes are blocked. The next step is to start clomid to start ovulation, but wont know all the results from the tests until we go back to the specalist in mid april.

i know its hard and very frustrating, especially when everyone around you seem to be falling pregnant or having bubs, i have a number of times just broke down and cried, telling myself i cant do it anymore and i should be happy with our beautiful boy that we have. But we are just hoping that one day we will see that positive test.

Good luck and hope you get some answers very soon!!

Yup not quite as long but im currently on cd 85 and my cycle before was 60 days. I have mild PCOS so thats the problem behind mine. I too am awaiting an appointment with the specialist.

Hi Bel!
Thanks for the reply smile

My periods have always been irregular, but never this bad. It was often 2 months or sometimes 3 between periods, except while on the pill. I have had U/S in the past to try to find out if there is anything wrong, but nothing has shown up. My last was a few years ago now, and mys sister has been diagnosed with PCOS, so I am worried that might be the problem here.

You have just described me to a T. Sometimes I think I'm lucky to have the beautiful little boy I have, and that I can accept it if he is the only one I'm blessed with, but then I see a baby, and it's all over. And yes, everybody I know is pregnant or have just had babies.

I hope that you also get some good news soon. 2.5 years is such a long time, it must be tough.

Take care,
Nikki x

Hi!
Howm did you find out you had mild PCOS? Did it show up on an ultrasound?
I am worried that might be my problem too, but had an U/S a few years ago, maybe 2 years? to try to work out why my periods are so irregular, but nothing showed up.

Hi, I think they usually require ultrasound evidence for confirmation of PCOS, as it should show the follicles that have died off prematurely without releasing an egg. But sometimes they might do blood tests or suspect it given the history of long cycles or lack of ovulation and often other physical symptoms such things such as a tendency to gain weight easy (or hard to lose), excess facial hair, acne, or other evidence of excess testosterone.

However, not everyone has these symptoms - especially if someone is able to maintain a relatively healthy weight PCOS may have less of an impact (because it is related to insulin sensitivity I think). Many are not diagnosed until they TTC, as when on the pill they may continue to bleed regularly, but this is not actual ovulation.

I would check with your GP that they were looking for PCOS 2 years ago on ultrasound, and even if that showed up negative they should do blood tests also. Good luck, it is terribly frustrating, but also with meds like Clomid chances of pregnancy are much improved!
Hey Nikki,

Yeah its been a long road for us, but hopefully something will happen soon!
it is really tough, like i said before with ppl around me pregnant, my best friend is preg atm and i dont want to see her at all, i know that sounds so wrong and rude and bitchy, but it breaks my heart. i have spoken to her about it and she understands. I just tell her to shutup now when she goes on and on about her pregnancy LOL!!

Like Greendog said, not all women have the symptoms of PCOS. I just have the irregular bleeding and no ovulation that i can tell, i dont get any positive ovulation tests and no ferns on the maybe baby and no rise in temp at all. Other than that no symptoms except its hard to loose weight, but as im 64kgs i dont think im that overweight anyway.

I had my HSG today, i was *** myself thinking i was going to be in so much pain, but im fine, it didnt hurt at all really. Good thing is that i have no blockages in my uterus or tubes smile YAY! so its obviously the PCOS thats stopping me from falling. Also she said that because the HSG using the dye, it flushes out the tubes so if there was a small blockage it would have got rid of it and the HSG raises the chance to fall naturally by 50%.

Hopefully your gyno will send you for more bloods, another u/s and maybe a HSG. if they dont, request them, its better to get them all done, just in case smile

That's great! Hopefully when you go back to the specialist next month the clomid will be all that you need!
I can't wait for my appointment, it sucks that it is so far away!
I hope that you will let me know how you get on at your next appointment smile

Yes it can show up in a scan and/or bloods. If it didn't show up in a scan, have you had your blood hormone levels checked?
hi girls,
i have a similar problem . we have just started ttc for #2. our first is a georgous 8 month old boy who is the best thing that ever happened to us, but we would like another. the problem is, i havent got a period back yet since having him, think i might be ovulating but not sure. i am still breastfeeding but not for long periods anymore. i have dropped the night feeds and he is on three meals a day. he sleeps through the night, and feeds about every four hours now.
i have done a couple of hpt in the last week and i dont know if they are evaporation lines or feint positives, casue there are definately lines there, but as to what they mean is another story. i have been having a few bouts of nausea on and off, and am very tired. but as i dont have a period yet, its hard to know whats going on.
can anyone offer me any advice, i dont want to keep testing cause i dont want to obsess over this , if it happens it happens. thats how i feel. but at the same time it would be nice.
by the way i am new to this forum, wish i discovered it months ago, when i was still pregnant and in the early months of being a mum.
cheers for now, ange.
Wow....so pleased I found this website and especially this post. It's great to read that I am not the only one in the world that is TTC because it feels like everyone around is eh! We have be trying TTC #1 since Jan 2010 and still no luck. Stopped taking the pill in Dec 2009 and have only had 4 periods since. Have recently (for last 2 and a half months) been doing the ovulation tests and like you, have only had neg results! Went to doc late 2010 and got blood tests, all ok. And typical doc reply 'it will happen, it just takes time'....
Would be grateful of any new ideas or advice from you like minded ladies. And ha since I'm new to this website, some of the abbreviations are confusing me a little - can someone enlighten me please. Haha TTC was the easiest one!!!
Keep positive ladies...we are just normal people and different individuals smile
