IVF Lock Rss

Hi, I am about to start my first IVF cycle this week. Anybody else out there trying the same thing ?
Thanks for the reply, how old were you when they took your eggs and which cycle number worked for you ?Did they put 1 egg in or 2 ? I am in Nz. Thank you !
I haven't started yet, but DH & I are planning to. We've so far only got as far as having our initial appointment with the fertility specialist, and having some blood testing done. I hope it won't be too much longer before we can get our first IVF treatment cycle underway; since I am 38 and DH is 51, and I don't know how much longer we can wait to get started and still have a reasonable chance of success. We'll possibly need to do ICSI with the IVF, since DH has a low sperm count and poor sperm motility.

Kazzzav, thanks, sorry to hear your story. Everyone is so different. I love how you said it was an exciting experience as it was one step closer to your dream - a fantastic way to look at it. Catlover. I started seeing fertility specialist in Jan this year after not having much luck with local specialists. I had a few operations etc last year following a nasty experience with ectopic. So we have decided ivf is better for us. So
June start from a January consultation I think is a pretty good timeline, faster than I expected. Good luck for your appt. I start injections on Monday.
Hey Hun I just wanted to wish you luck when you start your IVF journey smile

I did IVF with ICSI to concieve our dd1 and also our twin dd's. dh and I had been trying for 5 years when it was found I have polycystic ovaries and also dh had a very low sperm count with poor mobility. dh was 29 I was 23 when we had my eggs removed. Because of my polycystic ovaries the fertility specialists said I was at high risk of getting Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome and I did but luckily didn't require hospitalization. On our first cycle we put back 2 embryos. We were lucky and fell pregnant first cycle but lost one around 6 weeks and came Very close to losing dd1 but Thankfully with lots of pregnancy support with provera we went onto have her by caesarean at 36 weeks. My first dd is now 9 years old.
When dd1 was 6 months we thought we would try again as we had 8 frozen embryos and if it took awhile we didn't want a large gap between kids. We put 2 embryos back in and unfortunately I got Ovarian Hperstimulation Syndrome again but this time was in a critical state and was put in Intensive Care and dh was told to prepare for the worst as it didn't look good. Thankfully under the care of the hospital I slowly started to recover. I spent 1 week in Intensive Care and the next on the ward. While I was on the ward they did my pregnancy test It was Positive but they said as my body had so many hormones in it from being overstimulated it could be a False Positive. But at 7 weeks we had our scan and saw 2 Beautiful heartbeats beating away. After the bumpy start we went onto have a fairly trouble free pregnancy and my twin dd's were delivered at 37 weeks. They will be 8 in August.
When my twins were around 4 we decided as much as we wanted more children we couldn't go through it again emotionally and financially so we made the sad decision to have our embyos destroyed. As much as we knew the turmoil people went through suffering infertility I couldn't face the thought of someone else having a baby that was my dh's and I's.

A few years later I told dh of my yearning to have another child he said OK as long as we do it by ourselves so I did lots of research into what may help us and to our absolute surprise we wre blessed with a darling boy who is now just about 2 1/2 and we are 9 weeks pregnant with our last baby. Our fertility specialists had told us when we did the IVF we would never concieve naturally but looks like we did smile
WOW that was long Sorry for the essay smile xx

WOW, what a journey you have had Babes. You are truly blessed.

My dd2 was also conceived through ivf with the help of ICSI. I conceived dd1 naturally but when it came time to try for no. 2 nothing happened. I found out I had endometriosis which was removed. Unfortunately I still didn't conceive. That's when we started on the ivf journey.
My 1st go I did a down regulation cycle and got pregnant. Unfortunately at the dating scan there was no hearbeat, I had a missed miscarriage. I had a D & C and they tested the embryo. It had a chromosomal defect. My specialist thought maybe the syneral had affected my egg quality. He decided to to an antagonist cycle 2nd time around. I only got 3 eggs which lucky for us with the help of ICSI resulted in 3 embryos. They transferred 1 which resulted in dd2 who just turned 2. The 2 remaining were frozen and last year we made the heartbreaking decision to destroy them as we had completed our family and I couldn't donate.
After I conceived dd2 I ended up in hospital twice with urinary retention due to my enlarge ovaries. Luckily by the time I was 10 weeks they settled down.
I wish you the best of luck. smile

I'm starting my first lot of injections next week. Have been on the pill for 4 weeks. A wee bit nervous about how I will react to the hormones but excited too.

Hi quirkygirl. Nervous but excited too. It's a hard one but another step on the ladder. Where abouts in Nz are you ?
Hi Spot10. I'm in Auckland. Yep, scary first injection this morning. I feel like I am just waiting for some major change to happen when I know it will be a gradual thing.
How are you doing?

Hi, started mine today too ! Strange feeling isn't it just waiting for something to change. Very happy though to be started at last. All the best for you journey !! Keep in touch
Have started the Gonal F injections now too. The hardest bit is remembering to do them right on time! I have come out in some hives which I am hoping is just my usual reaction to stress and my cold not to the hormones.

How is everyone else doing?

Hi, start my other injections tomorrow night. Just feeling bloated and a bit tired. Taking it easy trying not to think too much.
