25wks preg and the doc doesn't Lock Rss

Had an appointment at the hospital today, I've only put on 4kgs so far and I'm 25wks pregnant. As I'm already a bit overweight the doctor has said she doesn't want me to put on anymore weight and would prefer if i lost a few kgs <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

Hmmm haha should be interesting to see what I can do, might have to stop my red rooster and kfc visits laugh laugh
good luck with that LOL

you ARE going to put on more weight as bub grows so unless you are going to starve yourself to lose the equivalent in body fat, your dr is going to be disappointed.

4kgs in 25 weeks is excellent in my opinion! (compared to what i had gained by that stage)

Good luck, and eating less take away cant hurt your body or your wallet but it might hurt your cravings hehe

Lol yeh I thought 4kgs was a pretty good effort, with DD i put on 14kgs in total... I guess I could completely cut the take away out but seriously, when you're pregnant cravings MUST be satisfied grin Might try actually eating breakfast and something healthier than a sandwich for lunch haha

Will cross my fingers my baby isn't going to be big so I don't make the doctor sad laugh
I lost weight while pregnant ..... didn;t cut back on eating just went for a half hour walk everyday withthe dog and then it got up to an hour it really helped with recovery.... maybe just go for awalk around the block every day

at least that way the dr said i was v overweight at beginning but lost some but at least i was fit and still fat which is as good as being skinny and unfit

ARE you serious!? 4 kgs is really nothing! Im overweight and have put on 15kgs (with a week to go) with this pregnancy. Not once has my OB commented on my weight, or how much weight ive been putting on!

Wow! 4kgs in 25 weeks is a great effort! I remember I was around three months pregnant with DD1 when my doctor told me I was too fat and needed to lose weight - I ended up gaining another 20kg! Don't go on a diet or anything, just eat relatively well and go for some walks, and if you lose some weight doing so, then yay! But it is natural to put on weight, especially in the later weeks of pregnancy, so don't worry too much about it!

Hi,

i was surprised the the Dr said 4 kgs was over weight i put on a total of 20kgs with my son and i only made it to 34 weeks and this time around i am 25 weeks and i have already put on 10kgs and my dr says this is normal?!!!!! Kelly]
Hmmmmm. I had gained nearly 14kg by 24 weeks and I exercise and work a physically demanding job. When I moan and complain to my Dr he merely say's "you're pregnant" I told him I'd seen something on tv saying women who are carrying extra weight to start with should gain little to no weight, he told me every pregnancy is different. It's completely normal to gain weight when pregnant even if you're carrying some extra kg's to start with. IMO 4kg's by 24 weeks is really nothing. I WISH i'd only gained 4 kg's lol As long as you're living your life as normal, I really don't think you have anything to worry about. : )

Sounds like a great doctor <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> I would be more inclined to think you would just need to eat as healthy as possible and if you still put on weight so be it! Some people eat as healthy as possible and still gain weight due to fluid retention and oh I dont know, GROWING A BABY INSIDE YOU! Asking you to lose weight while pregnant is kind of a dangerous statement to make, to some people it could imply you need to diet/ lower food intake. What a moron <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />
I was told and also read in several different places that pregnancy is not the time to loose weight? I'm surprised a doctor wants you to loose weight?
Hi 5kg sounds like almost nothing!! I put on 40kg with my dd and couldn't do anything about it! I was eating normally and suffered from horrible water retention smile My daughter weighed 4.61kg at birth and the placenta weighed 1kg so there goes your 5 kg right there laugh
The only up side to water retention was after Hazel was born it was like I was on Biggest Loser without having to do the diet and exercise! I lost about 30kg in 2 weeks and got to within 5kg of my pre-pregnancy weight without doing anything smile
I think you should just keep on doing what you're doing!! Sometimes doctor's advice is better off ignored wink
I'm in a similar position. I'm only allowed to gain about 4-5kgs through the whole pregnancy. If I go over that then it just means I have to deliver at another hospital. It's quite okay if you're overweight to lose weight while pregnant. My OB referred me to a dietitian and she's worked out meal plans for me. And she's got me eating a whole lot more food than I normally would in one day. It's certainly not an unhealthy/starvation diet. I found it was a good exercise to do anyway, because we discovered that I wasn't getting enough dairy or protein even though I thought I was.
