NSW, 7 yr old girl, 8 month old boy.
I've been reading up on cord blood collection at the time of birth. This is when they collect the blood from the baby's umbilical cord, and store it for up to 18 years. This can then be used to treat any blood disorders, leukeamia, etc, in the future. There are a few organisations that do this (at quite an expense!!). I was wondering if anyone has actually had this procedure done? If so, which would you recommend?

We were told at Antenatal classes that is didn't cost anything as you were donating it but it was NOT kept for your baby and could only be done in normal working hours (which it seems most babies don't come in). Saveing your own I guess is a whole other thing.
