are pregnancy cravings real? Lock Rss

I've not had a craving - not with dd & not with this one. Sometimes I wonder if its even real or do people just use it as an excuse to eat bad? Lol

My sil put on 25kgs during her last pregnancy because she ate 2 cream buns and a strawberry milk twice a day, EVERY DAY! <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

I do get that in the first trimester its difficult to find things to eat - I ate carbs because I'd vomit otherwise... but that's different to cravings!

I have hungry days but not for specific things.
did you have cravings? what were they?

With my first pregnancy I craved nothing. But with my second pregnancy..craved milk. wink
I think its real. With dd1 I only wanted fresh food. With dd2 week 6 I could only eat oranges, week 7 I could only eat salt and the rest of the pregnancy I CRAVED coffee, the smell of petrol and ice. I had morning sickness the entire time as well. I felt so sick and the only thing that relieved it was listening to my body. Although god knows what the deal is with petrol.... ice is apparently an iron deficiency. But it was terrible because I know how bad petrol is for you but it was all consuming. Like an addiction there was no relief from. sad
Did you sniff petrol oc!!? Wow... there's one I havnt heard before! Lol

Ice with all 3, I couldn't drink anything unless it was frozen first, LOL.
With DD2 I craved pineapple couldn't get enough of it.
I don't recall any specific cravings with DS.
Had a bit of a sweet tooth on and off, but I ignored it.
I was really sick the entire pregnancy, so whatever I ate never stayed down anyway.
Still gained around 25-30kg ( angry )

This pregnancy I crave dairy which is odd for me.
I'm not a fan of dairy at all and avoid it as much as possible because it affects my asthma quite badly.
Haven't gained any weight. I've actually lost some.
REAL! With DS I was craving salt before I even knew I was pregnant, and I never ever eat/use salt.

DF thinks I craved BIG MAC'S from McD's!!! My lil white lie! Hahaha!

I craved ginger nut biscuits & fruit toast with DS. DH often tells the story of how we were test driving a new car & I pulled out my packet of ginger nut buscuits LOL he couldnt believe I carryed them everywhere I went (That was more so because of feeling sick if I didnt eat).
A friend of mine loved dipping salt & vinegar chips in ice cream with her second pregnancy... BURRRR!!!
Oh I've heard of the big mac 'craving!' So naughty!

I know someone who used to make her husband drive a one hour round trip in the middle of the night for her big mac 'craving' because she couldn't sleep...... my hubby would tell me to get it myself! Lol

real, except mine were'nt bad, i wanted it but if i couldnt get it i didnt go crazy, i just couldnt stop thinking about it.

with DS i craved
*big mac from macca's
*chicken kebabs
*fish cake
*fruit salad
*spicy foods, only thing was, nothing was spicy enough

now i cant eat big mac's, fish cakes and i cant handle much spicy foods

with this one i didnt have cravings but couldnt keep anything down (bad ms) except really salty hot chips and chocolate (im lactose intolerant and cant really handle eating more then a piece) so that is wierd. thankfully i was due last week and only put on 15 kgs. i think baby is going to come out looking like a m&m. but chocolate wasnt a craving

I tried very hard not to. I didn't have my nose in the tank or anything. It was more the smell of the petrol at the petrol station or we had a rag that had turps on it. It was the old petrol smell that did it. I found it really hard to control. I still remember scoffing an entire tray of ice (I was having 5 or 6 trays a day) and then running out to the laundry for the lingering smell of the old turps rag. At the petrol station dh would put it in and I would try to crack the window just for a little smell. It was my first taste of how hard a proper addiction would be to crack. (hopefully my only taste! tongue )

Thats either a fantastic husband or a stupid man! Not sure which one...

I did test DF few times by asking at ridiculous times of the night to go and get me a BIG MAC, but it never worked!
