Monoamniotic Twims (momo Twins) Lock Rss

I was told last Friday that we are having Momo twins that are 8 weeks old. This means that our twins Share the same placenta, sac. Our Twins also share the umbilical cord.

This is a very high risk twin pregnancy and I was just wondering if there was anyone out there that has been in the same situation as we are.

There is only a 50% chance that they will make it and if they do they take the babies at 30weeks, It is very scary for us and we are still trying to get our head around what is going on.
First of all congratulations!

Now, call me daft...but how do the babies share the same umbilical cord?

3 girls are enough...the shop is now shut!

Sweetie I am a little confused as I had this nd my boys shared the same placenta but had there own umbilical cord.
Monoamniotic twins develop when an embryo does not split until after formation of the amniotic sac
We only found out on Friday and where told that they are sharing Y shape cord, the doctor that came in to see us after the ultrasound said that this is very very rare, when we looked at the ultrasound you can see the cord going in to the babies and it is a Y shape.

I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday and I am hoping to get some more information, I have been searching the web to try and find out about this type of cord but can find nothing, I am hoping that they do another ultrasound and find two cords.

I am concerned about the cord as one is usally just enough for one baby, how are my two going to go with sharing one.

I am hoping they c another cord there as I have never heard of it. My twins shared everything but the cord nd u can go further than 30 weeks, if all is good u can go full term. there is only a 19% chance that something will go, which really isn't that much higher than a normal pregnancy.

Good luck Xxx

I will keep you up to date with how things go. Did you have extra care for your twins. How did you handel the news? I am not sure what to do sometimes I feel like I am being over the top and other times I want to know everything.

I had weekly appointments nd basically just went with the flow, wot will b will b, u cnt change wots out of ur hands. The boys were doing great so that's all that I was worried about.
Wow... That is amazingly rare. I wish you and your babies the best of luck! And I hope all goes well and stays well for longer than 30 weeks. Heres hoping you can hold out with two healthy babies till 36 at least!

I've had two Premie babies and even though I was extremly lucky it was pretty scary.
Hey hun,

We found out we were pregnant with twins in December, and lost them at New Years. We found out after that they were mono-mono twins (thats what they called them, but exactly the same as you described.
We weren't told this at the first scan which I'm rather annoyed about as they knew.

I really do feel for you hun as it would probably make it very hard to know. We lost them at about 9-10weeks. Keep your head up, and I hope you are in that lucky percentage. smile Fx.

I am pregnant again and even though I wish like anything I had my twins, I really hope I only see one in their this time.

Hi Ladies,

All has been going great with the twins so far, I have an appointment on Wednesday at the local hospital and then one on the last Wednesday of this month at the Royal Brisbane Woman’s Hospital with a specialist that has come over from the UK to help train and educate the midwifes and doctors about this type of pregnancy I have been put on his rounds and for this I am very great full about I feel so much calmer knowing that I am going to be seeing a great doctor, I will let you all know how I go.
Hi,

I am currently 9 weeks pregnant with Modi twins + singleton (triplets). I am high risk also as the identical twins on their own are high risk made worse by have triplets. I have done so much research about this but realistically all the research and all the statistics in the world are not going to decide if we have our babies. So I have decided to just take it as it comes and hope for the best. In saying that I am being realistic and know that I am prepared if something goes wrong.

I wish you all the best with you little ones.

xx
KWhiteley,

Wow I bet that was a big shock to the system. We are taking one day at a time but sometimes I find it hard not to think about it and I have a cry and other days I think about it and can't wait to have my babies so I can see what they look like. I am a crazy mix of emotions.

I have a doctor’s appointment next Wednesday and Thursday at the Royal Woman’s Brisbane Hospital with the head doctor to find out how my care will go, I am looking forward to the appointment as we also will be having an ultrasound and get to see our little ones

Good luck to you with your little ones, let me know how you go.
