Aspergers syndrome Rss

Just wondering if there are any mums who have any children with Aspergers syndrome. We have been told our son is showing some signs of AS. We arent sure if it is just a mild case or something that he will grow out of. What are kids with AS like? Any feed back would be great.

What are the signs?

My son was diagnosed with autism at 22 months he had no communication, face expressions, pointing, screaming, headbanging. At nearly 3 he points to what he wants, or takes you by the hand, he has some face expressions, he still screams when he wants something, heis noticing things around him like a plane flying over you, his head banging has stopped. He has a support worker for 2 hours each day as the staff have trouble handling him when as he needs one on one interaction. This year he got a new support worker and after two weeks of her being there he said the word TRAIN but hasn't said since.

Hi JZ,
I have 2 nephews (a 6yr and a 3 1/2yr) and they both have aspergers in the mildest form. They have both showed completely different signs before their diagnosis. One (3 1/2yr) has hardly talked but can communicate quite well, he also doesn't like to sleep much at all and usually sticks close by to his dad or brother. The 6yr old always talked but used to get fixated on something and repetetive like "is that the light" pointing to it over and over. Both have been have occupational therapy (speech therapy) and have improved. The 6yr old has changed amazingly in the past year and started kindergarten this year at a "normal" school. Neither have any violent signs such as head banging.

There are so many different signs and it also takes quite a few doctors and specialists before proper diagnosis is given. I don't believe they grow out of it however they improve greatly with the correct treatment/therapy.

Good luck
