I would love to know Routine for your 2 year olds Lock Rss

I get really stuck on what to do with my toddler during the day some times and i was wondering what routine do you have, what activities do you do with your toddlers now its getting warmer outside play is going to get less and less.

Hi Myrtle

My routine for my daughter who is two tomorrow usually goes something like this:

6.00-6.30am wake and quiet free play time while I prepare breakfast.

7.00am breakfast

7.30am get dressed, brush hair and teeth

7.45am watch abc kids and free play time with baby sister while I clean up and make beds

8.30 playdough or drawing or similar

9.00 play with tub of mixed toys on play mat

10.00 morning tea

10.30 play outside (throw ball, swing, sand pit or walk to park)

11.30 free play time while I prepare lunch

12.00 lunch

12.30 - 3.30 quiet time in room and nap

3.30 watch Hi Five or abc kids

4.00 play with blocks on play mat

4.30 bath time

5.00 free play time while I prepare dinner (often likes to 'help'!)

6.00 dinner

6.30 pack toys away and quiet time with mum and dad reading books

7.30 brush teeth and bed

We usually go out every second day or so for the whole morning or the day so this routine is only for when we are at home. Hope this gives you some ideas.

4 lovely munchkins DD 10/03, DD 03/05, DS 10/06 &

Emily is 2 and a bit and her day goes like this:

6:30 - up and have breakfast
7:00 - watch DVD and play inside
8:30 - get dressed, outside to play or walk with Mummy to shops/library/park
9:00 - morning tea
11:00 - walk home/come inside for lunch
12:00 - nap
2:00 - up, afternoon tea, play outside/have swim
3:00 - daddy and nanna get home, play outside some more
5:00 - dinner with mummy, water poppy's garden
6:00 - bath time
6:30 - read books, milk, kisses
7:00 - bed

This is pretty rough guide, Emily plays with her grandparents a lot in the afternoon because they live in the granny flat behind us. When she is outside, Emily plays with her little kitchen, pram, car, bike, swing, castle, etc. She pretty much keeps herself entertained and I just need to be there for cups of tea and to supervise. Inside, Emily has lots of toys that she plays with, usually dollies, reading books, puzzles. We play a lot of chase and tickle games and sing rhymes like bananas in pyjamas, going on a bear hunt, etc to burn some energy inside. We don't do craft very often but she loves painting and playdough. I am going to have to change the routine around a bit soon because by 10am the temp is about 30C already and it is only going to get worse. Planning on having breakfast outside and playing until morning tea and then coming in for DVD (or driving to shops/library) and keeping her inside until 3 or 4 in the arvo and maybe have dinner outside sometimes too.
