mandarins gave her hives Lock Rss

Hi my daughter had mandarins for the first time a few days ago and the next day she had hives spread around her body, for about 4 days they have been coming and going on various parts of her body.

My question is
Should I keep giving her mandarines in small amounts so her body becomes immune to them or should I wait till shes two to try again.

I have been given conflicting advice so please help.

2 little darlings 29/01/03 + 17/03/05

My eldest had skin reactions to certain foods from the moment we first introduced her to solids - she reacted to the rosmary extract in the baby rice cereal. She also reacted to various fruits.

We took her to a dietician who specialised in food allergies and intolerances. Her advice was to eliminate problem food from the diet. Depending on the severity of the reaction is how long to keep the food eliminated. Eliminating the food gives the immune system more time to develop before exposing it to potential allergens. If they are exposed to problem foods too much it can actually have the effect of worsening the reaction, and increasing the chance of further allergies developing. So personally I'd leave it until she is older - it might not be a problem then. My daughter reacted to bananas as a baby, but at 2.5 years is now able to eat them without a reaction. My niece was unable to eat eggs until she was 5 without getting hives.

Good luck.
