Pillow or no pillow Rss

Paige is a restless sleeper, and refuses to have a pillow in her cot, on the odd occassions that she has she has slept better, or if she is in bed with me she usually falls straight back to sleep on my arm. How can I get her to accept a pillow, as I know she will most likely sleep better and so will I. Any ideas?

Hi Rachel,

Have you tried using a really flat pillow that is used for babies or just a normal size pillow that we use? My 17 month old son has had a flat pillow since he was about 12 months old & he loves it. He used to move all over the cot & once i gave this to him it keeps him in one spot. If you have alerady tried this size pillow, i'm sorry I have no other ideas except persistence.
I got my pillow at a shop called Motherworld but any specialist baby store would have them.

Good luck.

Hi Michy

I haven't tried a really flat pillow, so I will give that ago. She does have a 'cot' pillow, that I tried to get her to leave in her cot last night, but it got thrown out onto the floor before she would even lay down. I will give the flat pillow ago tonight. Thanks

Rachel,

Let me know how you go.......

both my boys have had pillows for a while now, and it has kept them from wriggling around their entire bed. I picked up the junior pillow from Kmart for under $10.

I think that they will stick to the junior pillow for a few more years yet before moving to a normal pillow.
Hi Michy

I tried the flat pillow on Friday night with success, I told Paige that it was her special big girls pillow, she was excited about having it in her cot. And slept all night! But on saturday & sunday night she wanted 'pillow out' so I wait till she was half asleep and slip it in the cot. I will just have to keep at it hopefully she will accept it soon.

Your story made me smile - funny little people aren't they?! Good luck.

Hi Rachel,
I have a 19mth old boy and he would always sleep better with us so my partner got him a bananna pillow so it would feel like we were still there with him. It worked for a little but then we were back to getting up through the nite at all hours. While it has not worked 2 well for us some of our friens have tried a bananna pillow and found it works a treat!!!! I think that if you give her a pillow for bed and just leave one around for when shes on the lounge or in her pram it may help her to get use to a pillow.Hope this may help you a bit..
