Quick & Easy Xmas crafts! Lock Rss

Yes! It's nearly that time of year again! Ho Ho Ho

I love doing crafts with my kids and making pressies for the rellies so thought I would share some of our favourites [smile]

Paper Chain
Materials - paper, glue, scissors, pen

Cut 24 pieces of red and green colored paper app. 1x6 inches.
Glue the first piece together to make a ring.
Put the second piece through the first and then glue into ring shape.
Continue until the chain has 24 links.
The fun comes each morning when the kids get to take a link off the chain. They can watch as Christmas morning gets closer and closer!

Ideas to put on the papers

You can add this poem to a piece of paper or board that you hang your chain from.

December 1st until Christmas
Is the longest time of the year.
It seems as though old Santa
Never will appear.
How many days until Christmas?
It's mighty hard to count.
So this little chain of links
Will tell you the exact amount.

For more fun, plan out 24 Christmas activities that will each take about an hour. Write each idea on a piece of the chain. As a link is taken off the chain, read the activity you will do that day. Some ideas are:
*singing Christmas carols,
*putting up decorations in one room,
*writing Christmas cards to 10 people,
*making cookies,
*writing a letter to Santa, or
*going for a drive to look at Christmas lights.

Have Fun [smile]

Hand Print Wreaths

Supplies needed: A lot of green cardboard paper
A piece of red cardboard paper or a red ribbon
Optional: Glitter or glitter glue

Trace the child's hand on a piece of green construction paper.

Cut out the hand print. Make about 10 paper hands for each wreath.

Glue the hand prints together in a wreath shape, with the wrists overlapping a little bit.

Glue on a red ribbon bow (or make one from red construction paper).

Optional: Decorate your wreath with glitter or glitter glue.

Looks really pretty and effective! Pitty the pitures couldn't come up!

Hand and Foot Reindeer Craft

This cute reindeer is made from your child's handprints and footprint, cut out of construction paper. It makes a cute Christmas decoration.

Supplies: Brown and tan (or orange) construction paper
Googly eyes (optional)

Trace around the child's foot using brown construction paper. This will be the reindeer's head.

Trace around the child's hands using tan construction paper. These 2 pieces will be the reindeer's antlers.

Glue the handprint "antlers" to the top of the reindeer. Add a bright red paper nose, a paper (or drawn) mouth, and googly eyes (or paper eyes) to the reindeer's head.

You can now decorate your house for Christmas with these cute reindeers. Don't forget to put the child's name and age on the back of the reindeer.

I made the wreath the last 2 years. It is very cute, i made one with Brookes 2 day old hands awwww!
I also make a family hand wreath every year using a couple of everyones hands.

I hadnt heard of the reindeer before but i'll give it a go!

One similar is a christmas angel.
you need 3 hand prints.
Place one fingertips down on a piece of paper. (dress)
Then put the other 2 fingertips up on either side of the dress to make wings
Then you draw/cut out a face

Cut out at least 6 hands.
Place one on a piece of paper fingertips down
Put it at the top in the center
Get 2 more hands and place them underneath the first
Then put 3 more under the 2
It should make a triangle xmas tree shape
When you are happy with the placement glue them down from the bottom up
You can then decorate it
It looks cool if you curl the fingers up to make the tree look bushy.

Thanx Sharoo,

I had the Hand tree one but got to tired to write anymore lol

I love the Christmas hand Angel though smile] I might give that a go today! Would it be able to be laminated?

You girls are so clever - thank you! Every morning, my twin boys ask, 'can we put the tree up today!' They will love doing these crafts!!!

Do you have anymore?, if so, pls send them my way!

Thanks again

Hey all,

are you able to also put your posts into the art and craft section, there are a fer people there that frequent that area but not so much the general area,

i started a christmas craft thread a while ago i will bump it up so that you can put them in there

BTW we did hand chains for decroating the tree and the float for the pagent last year. then they decorated the centre after with them, it was great because even the smallest babies could be involved and they looked great
Hi Nat! Thanks for posting this. I have just found out that I am hosting Christmas this year for DHs family so I will be putting your ideas to good use. Tomorrow I am off to the newsagents to get the green paper to make the wreaths.

Hope all is well at your end.

Love Elisa

I like this website for teaching:

It's american but there are some cute ideas that you can "Australianise". Most of them print straight off )ps don't worry about becoming a member for more resources - most of the good stuff is free).
