in shock not sure what to do Lock Rss

yes, my neighbour has been diagnosed with ADHD , and he has had to go to the city for numerous tests, fortnightly and now monthly before he was put on ANY medication.... I was under the impression this disorder was a specialist field and needed special techniques and psychologists etc to help diagnose this.. It is quite expensive too from my understanding for these appointments. I think your paed was a bit to abrupt to be saying this about yourr DS, and if he had any concerns should have spoken to you about his diagnoses and then take appropriate steps for further testing. i , myself would not be listening to him regarding ADD and hope he is better with sorting out your sons, primary problem that you went to see him for!!

8 babies..5boys 3 girls

I would have to agree with previous posters. Get a second opinion.

My daughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD. This came after 6 months worth of fornightly visits to the pediatrician and various reports and tests completed by her teacher and herself.

For 3 months we restricted her diet and whilst this improved things slightly she was prescribed ritalin in its lowest dosage and she only has half of that dose each time. It is certainly not a decision made lightly and even she has noticed how much better school has become.

So all in all ADD/ADHD is not something that can be daignosed in one 1/2 hour appointment. I would be very sceptical of that Dr.
