Do you like your name? Lock Rss

My name is ok, it's different no one spells it or pronounces it right which annoys me then there's my last name which wehave the same problem with! And I don't have a middle name so when people ask for my full name and I say my first and last names they look at me blankly!
I like my name, it's Serena growing up it used to get spelt and pronouned wrong all the time.. I would either get called Selina, Sabrina, sarina, sarena... I hate that I still have to spell it out to people, but it's more off a habit now I'm so used to spelling it out... My neice calls me aunty Rena because it's easier for her to say and I like being called Rena... I have 4 sisters and their names are Tammy, Michelle, belinda and Josephine... So I guess I'm the odd one out but I don't mind...

I think it's also funny that I married an Indian and it had to be one off the most common Indian surnames that he has... I also have to spell that out it's just so much easier... I also could never find cups or pens with my name on them... But my sil found a mug with my name on it in Starbucks over in America and gave it to me when she was back her visiting...
I don't really worry to much about my name, although I am finding that I am needing it spell it more and more these days.... I figure that multiculturism has alot to do with that.... my name is Michelle.... unsure

Is OVER rude people

my neice once had a girl in her class called TINKER BELL what the F**K were her parents thinking? did they think it was cute or something..

my name is Lara, so i get Laaara, Laura, Lana, Tara, Lee whatever people are thinking at the time.... I don't really like it would have loved to be called something like JORDAN or Cassandra or Danielle,

so i named my daughter Danielle unsure
My name is unusual, traditional & still very common from where it originates Scotland/Ireland area, but no-one has ever heard of it here.

It is not a horrible name though. As a child I used to get really annoyed at people who mispelt or pronunciated it incorrectly. Now I am used to spelling my name & explain how to say it. It is not a hard name to say, just people see it as being different & it throws them off. It is just said as it is written.

But really there are bigger things in life to worry about.

PS. I feel for anyone whose initials spell words that are not complementary, like NOB for example.

Woo go the Tessa's smile

Its funny it's not a particularly common name but in high school I had three other Tessa's in my yeah...

I like my name....now I hated it when I was young though it still annoys me when they don't get it right on the phone or wherever...so many times I have rocked up to pick up pizza etc and the name on the screen is Tash, pessa, jessa, kessa....so now I just say pick up for Bob haha

haha I always get 'Heather' and now when i have to spell it over the phone I say 'T for tiger...etc' lol its easier and I hate getting mail or whatever with Pessa or Teffa on it lol!!
Love my first name - Amber
Didn't like my middle name very much growing up - Gwen
And HATED my last name - Longdill

Now I just accept what I was given and deal with it.

Hopefully one day the last name will change if DP every gets round to asking wink
my name is Jessica but i prefer Jess, can't stand Jessie unless it is from a 75 yr old or older.
it was very common at high school i was 1 of 5 in science class there was atleast another 3 Jessica that i knew of in same year level not to mention other year levels.
i like my name except for the times when people say 'oh my dog's name is Jess' yeah thanks but you know i'm not a dog so would did you have to tell me that?

my best friend's son is at kindy this year and there are 3 Chloe and 4 Jack (3 Jack & 1 Jackson, but still gets called Jack, i think if your going to call out Jack why have son on the end?)
I really like my name but I wish people could pronounce it properly haha it's Alecia (pronounced Ah lee see ah) I have family members and close family friends that can't say it properly <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

Most people say it like Alisha or Aleshia and it annoys the crap outta me! As for spelling, I ALWAYS have to spell it out lol

My mum wanted to call me Kayla, that would have made life far easier grin
my name is Rebecca and i absolutely HATE it with a passion, there wasnt one class i had in school that didnt have atleast one other Rebecca in it.
i prefer Bek and i refuse to answer anyone that calls me Rebecca. the ILs call me this just to shjt me off.
i've looked it up and in VIC alone there were over 500 Rebeccas born in '87
absolutely hate my surname too (maiden) forever have to spell it and even then its still spelt wrong cant wait to marry DP... if it ever happens nice easy simple surname.
thats why i chose simple names for my kids: Tia, Isobel, Noah and Alex
the only one we have to spell is Isobel, thats because most peopl assume we use the "popular" spelling of it.
Alex we get asked if its Alexander, im like no if it was id have said Alexander. also have been asked to spell it once or twice... how else do you spell it??? lol
