Mothers Day - quick vent! Lock Rss

OK, I'll try to keep it quick. My darling DH is off to the footy on Sunday and given we live 2 1/2 hours away it will pretty much be a full day out for him. Gee, isn't that nice of him on Mothers Day? Is it really too much to expect maybe a lie in, breakfast in bed, and a lengthy shower? Honestly, that is all I would expect but I'll be getting none of it as it might ruin his plans!!!

Mothers Day has never meant anything to him or his family (they don't even mention it!), but my oldest DD is now 4 1/2 so he should know by now that it has always meant something to me and my family so I want it to mean something to my children too ....

Do I sound too harsh?
My DF is working all weekend so I will be home on my own with our 3 kids. I don't think you are being too harsh, but maybe because he has never bothered with it before he didn't realise it was this weekend? Can you go with him make a family day of it?
Not harsh at all hun..dont you just love footy! <img src='https://www.huggies.com.au/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />
I hope you still have a great day tongue ..despite your dh not staying home with you for the day! roll eyes
Would love to know how many of us have partners who have thought enough to do something... I haven't had one thing for mothers day and this will be my 4th mothers day. I just lowered my expectations and then if he does organise something it will be a lovely surprise.

Well I never get pampered or whatever on Mothers Day except for a card and a pressie from the kids and then for the rest of the day its normal as usual roll eyes
I hate mothers day because it always makes me feel angry and upset!

My birthday is just before mothers day and every year I get to choose which day I want and then I get a small prezzie because now is end of the tax year and we have no money!!!!!

My husband this year is doing a car rally -which he has to do- so my week is as follows.....

I got home from a trip to aussie to visit my sick dad -which DH didnt pay anything for - yesterday. My DH is home 8ish tonight, My b-day is tomorrow and he is home late, Sat he is gone all day and home late, Sun he is gone all day and home for tea. Monday if im lucky I will get a birthday dinner.

We have no money this year so I get no present at all! sad

Sorry this has turned out to be a pity party for me. Thanks for listening smile

I have decided that as soon as we get a bit of money im gonna get the zumba dvds, even if it is months away and that will be my late pressie.

Unfortunatly my dad is not going to get better, but I was his birthday suprise so his birthday this year was one to remember. I am glad I was able to see him and perk him up a bit.

I'd be anoyed if my dp went out for the day, dp is useless with gifts and important days i learnt the hard way lol.....so he's learnt now my b'day weekend and mothers day i must have a sleep in and last year he even took it upon himself to bring me breakfast in bed LOL i also request he makes no plans those days he just mine. dd1 is 4 now though and understands a bit so i've just asked dp to take her to the shops and spend $5 so she learns that giving is a lovely thing to do and not just receiving i don't care if it's a pack of coat hangers to be honest just so dd learns LOL...we don't really do gifts things with each other anymore there is usually something we are saving for so just call that a present.
